This award reflects the work of the Pantera Press Foundation and the underpinning good books doing good things™ Pantera Press philosophy. Pantera Press supports projects and programs to encourage the joy of reading, develop the building blocks for literacy, and help close the literacy gap.
John and Jenny were recognised for their support of a UNSW scholarship program that helps socio-economically-disadvantaged students to study. The award also acknowledges Jenny’s work as an award-winning sculptor and John’s work as a writer promoting Australian fiction, through his thrillers that feature strong female leads.

The Greens were in outstanding company on the night alongside the other eight award winners: Shaun Gladwell (Arts and Culture), Bob Cameron (Business and Innovation), Betty Kitchener (Medicine and Health, for her contribution to mental heath), Margaret Sheil (Science and Technology), Usman Khawaja (Sports), the entrepreneurs behind community marketplace app Airtasker, Timothy Fung and Jonathan Lui (Young Alumni), and George Passas (Student Volunteer).
