Our latest team spotlight is on Martin Green, director of Pantera Press and co-founder of Lost the Plot.

 

1. How long have you worked in publishing?

Ten beautiful years.

 

2. What is it that drew you to the publishing industry?

I love books. I like the way they smell. They get in your head and make you a different person.

 

3. What is your favourite book?

I love Tender is the Night. I’ve been reading it for years and I have no idea what it’s about.

 

4. What book would you love to see adapted to film?

Ursula Le Guin’s The Word for World is Forest.

 

5. If you could have dinner with one literary character, who would it be?

The ghost of Leon Trout.

 

6. Do you remember the first book you read as a child?

My memory only goes back to the age of 11. I remember reading Lockie Leonard and Lord of the Rings. Lockie Leonard was good.

 

7. What is your favourite quote?

GET MONEY BUY FLOWERS.

 

8. What is your ideal reading location?

On a beach under a palm tree.

 

9. What snack best accompanies a good book?

One without cheese powder.

 

10. If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you take with you?

A hand spear, a guitar and a bouncy ball. Sign me up.

 

11. What do you like most about your job?

I get to make books!

 

12. What is your guilty pleasure?

Eating pizza in bed.

 

13. Who is your ultimate book boyfriend/girlfriend?

Buffy. There are Buffy books.
