Pantera Press acquires Lost and Found: How to Wander Your Way to a Better Life by Dr. Tim Sharp
Pantera Press
Pantera Press is thrilled to announce the acquisition of World rights for Lost and Found: How to Wander Your Way to a Better Life by Dr. Tim Sharp via Simone Landes at The Lifestyle Suite, to be published in July 2024.
Part memoir and part evidence-based self-help, Lost and Found is all about embracing the messiness of our internal and external worlds and using it all for growth. Research highlights the importance of getting ‘lost’ to improve our mental health – whether that’s wandering outdoors in nature or letting our minds do the wandering by accepting negative thoughts and unpleasant emotions rather than constantly trying to fight or push them away. It’s in this wilderness that we find room to embrace risk and failure, rather than always aiming for safety, comfort and success.
Lost and Found will be a roadmap for tackling psychological distress and promoting psychological flourishing by arguing that we all need to embrace the opportunities that personal challenges and hardships can bring to our lives. By getting ‘lost’, literally and metaphorically, we allow ourselves to have new experiences and to absorb new information about ourselves and the world around us.
Dr. Tim Sharp is Australia’s very own ‘Dr Happy’, at the forefront of the positive psychology movement and founder of the Happiness Institute. He has run one of Sydney’s most respected clinical psychology practices, a highly regarded executive coaching practice, has taught at most of the major universities in Australia and is currently Adjunct Professor at both UTS and RMIT.
He is also the bestselling author of a number of books, including The Good Sleep Guide, The Happiness Handbook, 100 Ways to Happiness and 100 Ways to Happy Children, and the popular Habits for Happiness audiobook series with Audible. He regularly appears on Australian TV, featuring on Today, The Morning Show, Studio 10, The Project and many other programs.
Dr. Tim Sharp says, ‘I’m so excited to be working with Pantera Press on my latest book. After several decades of researching, writing, and talking about happiness, and living a great life, it’s time to admit that I’ve really been lost all these years. But that’s okay, because some of the best moments of my life have come from wandering nature trails, and allowing my mind to wander all the deep, and sometimes dark, nooks and crannies of my varied emotional experiences.’
Commissioning Editor Tom Langshaw says, ‘Books that are grounded in the positive psychology movement have been of great value to so many readers; I should know, I’ve worked on my fair share of them. With this wide-ranging, deeply researched book – his most personal yet – Tim turns this idea on its head and shows us the value of our negative emotions, challenging so many of our conventional wisdoms about what makes us tick.’
Lost and Found: How to Wander Your Way to a Better Life will be published in July 2024.
