Pantera Press has acquired second non-fiction book by Nicole Madigan

Pantera is thrilled to announce they have secured world rights to Nicole Madigan’s second work of nonfiction, Torn, in a deal brokered by Jeanne Ryckmans of Key People Literary Management

Torn explores the enduring tug-of-war between heart and mind as the women grapple with the ultimate relationship decision: should I stay or should I go, further complicated by societal expectations, self-respect, interests of any children, and love. Perfect for fans of Dolly Alderton, Jessie Stephens and Lisa Taddeo.

Publisher Kathy Hassett is eager to bring Nicole’s second work to readers. ‘Torn takes us into the hearts and minds of several women as they wrestle with life-changing relationship decisions,’ she says. ‘Women are looking to read intelligent and thoughtful non-fiction narratives about love and relationships, and the stories detailed in Torn will resonate with many readers. I was really drawn to the added element of surprise in these compelling deep-dive stories – who will stay and who will go?’

As a journalist of more than 20 years, Nicole finds real-life stories of ordinary people are often the most compelling. ‘These are the stories I relish writing about,’ she says. ‘Relationships are central to our lives, and for many women, it’s a natural instinct to put others first, often to the detriment of oneself. It’s for this reason, that so many women are left feeling torn about their intimate relationships, caught in a tug of war between love and obligation, of should and shouldn’ts, right and wrong, and – notably –their needs versus everyone else’s. I’m honoured to be sharing these women’s stories.’

Nicole Madigan is a Senior Writer at Mamamia, specialising in investigative features, news analysis and long-form features. She has previously written across the News Corp and Fairfax national and state mastheads (print and online), as well as The Guardian Newspaper, along with writing for and editing a variety of print and online publications, and reporting on-air for Channel Nine.
